PDF files offer significant advantages over native application files such as QuarkXpress and InDesign.

PDF files are small and self-contained. Fonts, images, and graphics are embedded within a PDF document, streamlining electronic transmission and preflighting. PDF files are independent of the platform, operating system, and authoring application. One consistent, predictable, reliable format can be used for all documents submitted for printing.
